The Environmental Engineering Session of the Riga Technical University 54th International Scientific Conference “Environmental and Climate Technologies” will be held 14-16 October 2013. The Conference has been envisaged as a regular scientific forum and its main aim is to acquaint researchers with achievements in the area of energy systems and environmental engineering and to give the scientists, especially PhD students, an opportunity to publish the results of their research.
International scientific conference "Environmental and Climate Technologies" is traditionally held for several years, bringing together scientists and researchers from different countries. An overview of the scientific conference “Environmental and Climate Technologies 2012” can be found here.
The conference is organized within the project "Ecohousing".

Topic of Interest for the year 2013: Development of low carbon emission technologies
Climate change is one of the topics that lately causes the most interest and concern among all environmental problems raising heated discussions among scientists, politicians, and practitioners, as well as within society as a whole. The Environmental engineering session of the year 2013 will be devoted to the mitigation of climate change, focusing to the development of low carbon emission technologies. Scientists and practitioners reflect the development of low carbon emission technologies – pure technological solutions for the utilization of non-fossil energy sources and increasing energy efficiency.
Besides the topic listed above, the conference is open for any contributions related to environmental engineering. A variety of themes will be covered through a multi-disciplinary approach which integrates all aspects of environmental science:
sustainability of technology development,
cleaner production,
zero emission technologies,
end of pipe production,
eco-design,
life cycle analysis,
eco-efficiency,
environmental impact assessment,
environmental management systems,
greenhouse gas emission reduction and climate technologies,
waste management,
renewable energy sources,
solar, wind, geothermal, hydroenergy,
biomass sources: algae, wood, straw, biogas, energetic plants and organic waste,
methodologies of the evaluation of sustainability,
quality of outdoor and indoor environment,
environmental monitoring and evaluation.
Manuscripts are expected to be submitted at Online Submission System. Scientific articles will be peer-reviewed and once a manuscript will be accepted for publication, it will undergo language copyediting in order to provide the highest possible publication quality. Formatting rules for the articles are attached below.
Best submitted articles will be published in the international scientific journal of RTU "Environmental and Climate Technologies".The print version of the journal is published by RTU Press and the electronic version by Versita. |
The deadline for late registering for the Riga Technical University 54th International Scientific Conference “Environmental and Climate Technologies” is June 1.
In order to apply for the conference, you need to submit the online application form and send the abstract of your theme to e-mail:

. Authors are invited to submit abstracts written in free form 1000 to 2000 characters, using the Times New Roman 12 pt font.
After receiving the approval of the abstract, authors need to submit the full version of the article by July 1 in Open Journal System.

*The registration fee is 50 EUR if the full paper is submitted till May 13.
**The registration fee is 70 EUR if the full paper is submitted till July 1.
The registration fee covers a copy of the conference proceedings, admittance to all sessions, refreshment breaks, lunches and the conference social event. The deadline for conference fee payment is August 1. Conference fee payment options will be set up soon.
Responsibility and Visa Requirements
For people from outside ECOWAS region planning to attend the conference, an entrance visa may be required and you should contact the nearest Embassy or Consulate for more information. Participants are requested to make their own arrangements in respect of health and travel insurance. The organizers do not accept responsibility for any personal injury, damage or loss of property which may occur in connection with this conference. All participants are advised to arrange international health insurance before departure from their home countries.

Keynote speakers
Dagnija Blumberga, Dr.hab.sc.ing., professor, Riga Technical University, Environment Protection and Heating Systems Institute. She has Thermal Engineer Diploma (1970) and two steps doctoral degree was defended in Lithuanian Energy Institute, Kaunas (1988). Doctor Habilitus Thesis "Analysis of Energy Efficiency from Environmental, Economical and Management Aspects" was prepared in Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) Stockholm (1995) and was defended in Faculty of Energy and Electronics, Riga Technical University (1996).
Professor Dagnija Blumberga has been part of academic staff of Faculty of Energy and Electrotechnics, Riga Technical University since 1976 and director of Institute of Environmental Protection and Energy Systems since 1999.
The main research area is renewable energy resources. She has participated in different local and international projects related to energy and environment as well as is author of more than 200 publications and 14 books.
