Dagnija Blumberga "One power industry language to everybody" E-mail

Delfi 02.12.2010.

In the article, prof. Dagnija Blumberga expresses her opinion about lack of common language between the power energetics including the government.

Dagnija Blumbarga says that the language has to be based on 4 elementary principles:

  1. Precise number language - decisions mumst be based on research, engineering data and calculations not just emotions and subjective opinions
  2. Responsibility - wouldn't it be nice that those who are making the energy policy would feel also responsible for all the results and consequences?
  3. Transparency - Wouldn't it be nice to finally know how the energy price is being calculated? How much we actually pay for effective useful work and how much for failures and schemes?
  4. Honesty - Could you imagine that all power energetics come together and everyone honestly agree that heat price for using wood is lower (sometimes even twice) than using natural gas as heat source, and start to think how to help local municipalieties to use cheaper fuels?

Common language and opinion must be found. It can not be done during one day workshop, but must be worked on during saveral months discussing the principles and questions within them.
