RTU EEF environmental science program lecturers look for and find various applications in training, so the training process is more interesting and students are aware of application of public consultation and decision-making in real life.
Professor Andra Blumberga on December 8th unites 3rd year bachelor program students and 1st year master program students in a model game "Air-purification equipment”. The fact that students with different levels of knowledge will participate in the game will enhance younger students' desire to grow in knowledge as they will see how much there is still to learn. At the same time, master program students will be able to evaluate already made achievements, which can hardly be made in their everyday life.
Students will be divided into several groups:
1. Absorption of water treatment equipment supplier;
2. Catalytic purification equipment supplier;
3. Plasma treatment equipment supplier;
4. Management of "Metāla pasaule";
5. Environmental activists;
6. Environmental management representatives;
7. Zundānu neighborhood residents;
8. Representatives of Zundāne municipality;
9. Media representatives;
10. Ministry of Economy;
11. Representatives of "Brīnummēbeles', a cometing company;
12. Experts from the Technical University
During the game students will have to choose the best technological solutions for NOx treatment, and carry out a public consultation on the choice of technological solutions to the imputed metal company "Metāla pasaule", which is the goal of the game. According to the rules of the game company's management has decided to expand their product assortment, so the company has to receive anenvironmental pollution permit from the Environment management Body, as well as to hold a public consultation. Environmental regulatory requirement is the installation of NOx purification equipment.
Before the game participants will conduct necessary researches and feel their selected roles.
