We want to remind you that The Scientific Conference will be held on October 12th and 13th, 2010. The Conference has been envisaged as a regular scientific forum and its main aim is to acquaint researchers with achievements in the area of energy systems and environmental engineering and to give the scientists, especially doctoral students, an opportunity to publish the results of their research. We want to announce our main sponsor Statoil, and the others supporting the speakers: Nordic Council of Ministers’, The Council of Netherlands, „Latvijas Meži”, and Latvijas Datoru centrs, Ltd. 3 best article authors will receive an award from Latvijas Datoru centrs, Ltd. The Conference of the year 2010 will be devoted to the mitigation of climate changes – the topic which is one of those that lately causes the most interest and concern among all environmental problems raising hot discussions among scientists, politicians, and practitioners, as well as within the whole society. Scientists and practitioners from Latvia, Estonia, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden will reflect the development of low carbon emission technologies – starting from clean technological solutions for the utilization of non-fossil energy sources and increasing energy efficiency, to the analysis of existing policy incentives to promote such technologies. Other topics covered in this edition are methods for the development of sustainable products - eco-design and methods for the analysis of the environmental characteristics of new technologies such as life cycle assessment and environmental impact assessment in order to see whether the target to decrease carbon emissions is achieved.
