Project is financed by the NordPlus programme (http://www.nordplusonline.org/adult), the partners are: Since public procurement has relatively large share of total procurement activities (ca. 16% of total EU GDP), it can play very important role in promotion of sustainable consumption. Although EU, LV, FI, IS legislation enables inclusion of environmental criteria in the green public procurement (so called green procurement, further on GPP), the GPP implementation is growing slowly. EC has listed various barriers in use of GPP, one important barrier is an informative barrier. Especially, there exist a lack in knowledge change from EU regulations and obligations in materials and substances. Decision-makers of cities and municipalities need more information. Training through community level collaboration is a good tool to overcome informative barriers. Indoor environment depends very strongly on materials used in constructions and interior. Poor indoor environment is one of the most important risks for human health, since nowadays people spend in buildings most of their life. Especially with regard to public entities which are designed for sensitive groups (kindergardens, schools, hospitals, care centers) it is important to maintain good indoor environment which is in large extent achievable by well-considered material choice. Currently people who are choosing materials in public entities often have very limited knowledge on environmental and health impacts of materials. The project applied hereto aims to develop a training and education toolkit to support local entities and cover the knowledge-lack. Jana Simanovska Msc. env, PhD student, Researcher, |
